Titleist Futura Putter

Of all the clubs I bought this season to completely revamp my set—the Fusion driver, Nike CPR 2-3, Slingshot irons and Cleveland C10 wedges—the Titleist Futura Putter may be the biggest difference maker.

Yesterday's stint on the putting green might be the best illustration. With any decent putter, I am a scratch lag putter. (My game outside 170 yards is another game altogether.) But yesterday, I three times linee up my five Pro V1's 60 feet from one of the pins, with a one-foot right-to-left break. I sank four of the 15 putts, two of them in the same set of five putts. The fellow next to me, when he heard the second putt drop in, looked at me as if wondering who I might be.

At the same time, I now am sinking 45-50% of my ten-footers. I couldn't achieve that with at least 90% of the putters on the market.

My strong guess is that its greatest virtue, quite simply, is that it is easier to keep the head on-line or, put another way, it is harder to twist it off-line.

At this point, the key to my putting is my green-reading. If I read it right, there's a remarkably good chance the putt will go in—even from 20 yards away. I am so confident with the club and its to ability to stay on line that I simply take it back slowly and drop the head on the ball.

If I could hit every club this well I'd break 70. There may be a putter equal to it—I tried the Oddysey, and it isn't the one—but I cannot imagine a more perfectly designed club for any purpose, at least for my style, than this club. It already has cost my wife-to-be, a terrific putter, a large sum. The loser of our five-a-week putting contests has to buy the wine, and her only two wins since I bought this Titleist Futura Putter were one-up. And in one of those, she had make three 25 foot-plus putts in 18 holes to do it.

How can people be put off by 250.00 for a putter? Many will spend 400.00 for a driver they might hit 12 times a round but will moan and groan on a stick they hit 30 times a round that really makes a differnce more than anything else on what there score is. This is the top of the line in both quality and performance. This putter sets up so stright and has such a feel that you have to hit it to believe it. It does play a little light on slow greens but do yourself a favor and go to e-bay where you will see various types of weights that hook up to the Futura that look like they came from the factory. Most range from 24g to 56g and you can set it up for the feel you like,slow or fast greens . I have had this putter for a while and was one of the first to have it so I have had a lot of time to rate it. In fact one of my friends who plays on the nationwide tour used mine until he could get his. There is no putter that can come close to the performance of this putter. Buy one and you will see.
